Homeowner Resources

Nestor is NOT a lender/servicer and only your lender/servicer can offer options or make decisions to stop the non-judicial foreclosure action.  If you are a borrower and need assistance or help with your file you can lean on our expert team to provide you with information to connect you to your lender/servicer. We understand that foreclosure is a difficult experience and if you have not yet spoken to your lender/servicer about foreclosure prevention options, we highly recommend that you contact your lender/servicer immediately.   Your lender/servicer may be able to help you.  In addition to working with your lender, below are additional resources that you may find helpful.

Here are links to government sites that may help you understand how to navigate through foreclosure:

  • HUD - Approved Counselor

Ask for help by contacting an expert from a HUD-Approved Housing Counselor – they can often help you with navigating the foreclosure process and help you work with your mortgage lender/servicer.  Call 800-569-4287, simply follow the instructions, and enter your zip code to find a list of HUD-approved housing counselors.  You may also seek a list of HUD-approved, non-profit homeowners’ counseling organizations by visiting HUD’s website at www.hud.gov.

Be careful of scam artists who sometimes take advantage of homeowners or charge large amounts of money or make false promises to you.  You should not have to pay for help to avoid foreclosure.  The help you need is at no cost to you if you contact your lender/servicer or contact a HUD-approved counseling agency by calling the number 800-569-4287 for the list of HUD approved counselors near you.

  • CFPB - Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

The CFPB is committed to providing consumers with up-to-date information and resources to protect and manage their finances.  There is foreclosure prevention information and other valuable information available to you at : consumerfinance.gov.   Also, if you feel you have been scammed or want to file a complaint you can do so by contacting the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at: consumerfinance.gov.
